And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:
The boundary line went up toward Debir from the Valley of Achor, then turned north toward Gilgal, which is across from the road that goes up to Adummim on the south side of the river. The border continued to the springs of En Shemesh and ended at En Rogel.
This verse describes the specific geographical boundaries of the land that was given to the tribe of Judah when they settled in the Promised Land.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Joshua, after the Israelites conquered Canaan under Joshua's leadership following Moses' death, the Promised Land was divided among the twelve tribes as part of God's fulfillment of His covenant. Joshua 15 specifically details the boundaries of the territory assigned to the tribe of Judah, which was one of the largest and most prominent tribes. This verse describes a section of Judah's southern border, using geographical landmarks like the valley of Achor and Enrogel to mark the divisions, reflecting the practical need for clear borders in ancient tribal settlements.
