Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
This is what the LORD Almighty says: In this place that is now empty—with no people or animals—and in all its cities, there will again be pastures where shepherds rest with their flocks.
God is promising that the desolate, empty land will once again be filled with life, prosperity, and peaceful shepherds caring for their flocks.
📚 Historical Context
This prophecy was given during Jerusalem's siege by Babylon, when the land was being destroyed and would soon be left empty. Jeremiah was speaking God's promise of restoration after the coming 70-year exile. The image of shepherds and flocks represented the return of normal, peaceful life to a land that would be devastated by war.
