And it shall come to pass, when ye be multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, saith the LORD, they shall say no more, The ark of the covenant of the LORD: neither shall it come to mind: neither shall they remember it; neither shall they visit it; neither shall that be done any more.
And it will happen that when you have grown in number and prospered in the land, in those days, says the LORD, people will no longer talk about the ark of the covenant of the LORD. They won't think about it, remember it, visit it, or make another one.
God is saying that in the future, when His people have grown and flourished, they won't need the physical ark of the covenant anymore because something greater will replace it.
📚 Historical Context
The ark of the covenant was the most sacred object in Israel's worship, containing the stone tablets of the Ten Commandments and representing God's presence among His people. Jeremiah spoke these words during a time when the ark had likely been lost or destroyed, possibly when Jerusalem fell to the Babylonians. This prophecy points to a future time when God's presence would be experienced in a new and more intimate way.
