For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.
They are telling you lies through their prophecies, which will cause you to be taken far away from your homeland. This will result in me driving you out, and you will be destroyed.
God is warning that false prophets are telling lies that will lead to the people being exiled from their land and ultimately destroyed.
📚 Historical Context
In the historical context of Jeremiah's time, the nation of Judah was facing invasion from Babylon as a consequence of their idolatry and disobedience to God. False prophets were misleading the people by promising protection and peace, but Jeremiah was divinely sent to expose these lies, warning that they would result in exile and destruction. This message fit into God's broader plan of judgment and restoration for His covenant people.
