📚 Historical Context
This occurs during the time when Judah, one of Jacob's twelve sons, had separated from his family and married a Canaanite woman. Chezib was a town in the lowlands of Judah, showing that Judah had settled among the Canaanites rather than staying with his father's household. This was part of a troubled period in Judah's life where he made choices that moved him away from his family's covenant with God.
