Also Cyrus the king brought forth the vessels of the house of the LORD, which Nebuchadnezzar had brought forth out of Jerusalem, and had put them in the house of his gods;
King Cyrus also brought out the sacred items from the LORD's temple that King Nebuchadnezzar had taken from Jerusalem and placed in the temple of his own gods.
This verse shows King Cyrus returning the holy temple treasures that had been stolen from Jerusalem and placed in pagan temples during the Babylonian captivity.
📚 Historical Context
When Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem in 586 BC, he looted the temple and took its sacred vessels to Babylon, placing them in his pagan temples as trophies. About 70 years later, when Cyrus the Persian conquered Babylon, he reversed this policy and allowed the Jewish exiles to return home with their temple treasures. This was part of Cyrus's broader policy of religious tolerance throughout his empire.
