And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Along both sides of this river, there will be fruit trees everywhere, and we're talking about trees that never lose their leaves and never stop producing fruit. Every month, there's fresh fruit ready to go, because this water flows straight from God's holy place. The fruit feeds people, and even the leaves work like medicine.
God's presence creates life that never stops giving, food, healing, and hope on repeat.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet ministering to the Jewish exiles in Babylon during the 6th century BC, sharing visions that promised God's restoration for Israel after their defeat and captivity. In this specific vision, a life-giving river flows from the temple in Jerusalem, symbolizing divine renewal and abundance, with trees bearing perpetual fruit and healing leaves to represent God's provision in a barren land. This imagery offered hope to the exiles, assuring them that God would revive their nation despite their current hardships.
