And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
I'm going to turn you around and wipe out five-sixths of your army, only one out of every six will be left standing. I'll drag you down from the north and bring you right into Israel's mountains.
God's about to serve up some serious consequences, only a fraction will survive what's coming.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet ministering to the Jewish exiles in Babylon during the 6th century BC, warning of God's judgments on Israel's enemies. In this verse, God declares His intention to turn back and diminish Gog, a symbolic figure representing northern invaders, as part of a larger prophecy about divine intervention and restoration for Israel. This fits into the biblical narrative of God's sovereignty over nations and His protection of His covenant people.
