So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD.
They won't need to gather wood from the fields or cut down trees from the forests anymore, they'll have so many enemy weapons to burn as fuel. The people who got robbed and attacked? They're about to flip the script and take everything back from the ones who hurt them. That's what the Lord God says.
Sometimes God lets you take back what was stolen from you, with interest.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Ezekiel, the prophet is warning of a future invasion by Gog and his armies against Israel, as part of God's judgment and ultimate restoration for His people during the Babylonian exile. This verse describes the aftermath of God's decisive victory, where the Israelites will use the enemies' weapons as fuel for fire, eliminating the need to gather wood from fields or forests, symbolizing divine provision and the reversal of plundering. It fits into a larger prophetic narrative of God's protection and the restoration of Israel after exile.
