And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
They're going to take everything you've worked for, your money, your businesses, all of it. They'll tear down your walls and wreck your beautiful homes. Then they'll dump all the pieces, the stones, the wood, even the rubble, straight into the water.
When judgment comes, everything you built can be reduced to debris in the water.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet during the Babylonian exile in the 6th century BC, delivering messages from God about judgment on nations that opposed Israel. In this verse, he prophesies the destruction of Tyre, a prosperous coastal city known for its wealth from trade and strong defenses, as a consequence of its pride and alliances against God's people. This prophecy was partially fulfilled when Babylonian forces, led by Nebuchadnezzar, besieged and damaged Tyre, with further devastation occurring later under Alexander the Great.
