Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
So tell them this is what God says: 'Yeah, I scattered you all over the world, sent you far from home to live among people who don't know me. But here's the thing, wherever you end up, I'm still going to be your safe place. In every country you land in, I'll be like a mini sanctuary just for you.'
Even when life scatters you far from home, God shows up as your safe space wherever you are.
📚 Historical Context
In the time of the prophet Ezekiel, around the 6th century BC, the Jewish people were enduring the Babylonian exile after Jerusalem's fall, as a consequence of their persistent idolatry and disobedience to God's laws. Ezekiel, who was among the exiles in Babylon, delivered this message to remind them that God had not abandoned them despite their scattering among foreign nations. This promise of God being a "little sanctuary" highlighted His ongoing presence and protection in a time of displacement and hardship.
