And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire.
I looked up and saw this intense whirlwind coming from the north, like a massive storm cloud with fire swirling inside itself. There was this brilliant light all around it, and right in the center of all that fire, there was this warm, glowing amber color.
Sometimes God shows up in ways that are beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet among the Jewish exiles in Babylon around 593 BC, during the Babylonian conquest of Jerusalem, when God's people were facing defeat and displacement. In this vision, he sees a whirlwind from the north, which in ancient Near Eastern culture often symbolized divine judgment or powerful forces, representing God's majestic and overwhelming presence. This sets the stage for Ezekiel's prophetic ministry, calling the exiles to repentance and hope in God's sovereignty.
