Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
Then the LORD said to Moses, 'Now you will see what I'm going to do to Pharaoh. Because of my powerful intervention, he will not only let your people go, but he will actually force them to leave his land.'
God is promising Moses that He will use His mighty power to make Pharaoh not just release the Israelites, but actually push them out of Egypt.
📚 Historical Context
In the historical context of Exodus, the Israelites had been living in Egypt for generations and were enduring harsh slavery under Pharaoh's rule. Moses, whom God had called to lead His people out of bondage, had already confronted Pharaoh once, but it only worsened their situation, leading God to reassure Moses of His intervention. This verse highlights God's sovereign plan to force Pharaoh's hand, promising not just release but an expulsion of the Israelites from Egypt.
