For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.
I will drive out the nations ahead of you and expand your territory. No one will want to take your land when you go up to worship before the LORD your God three times each year.
God is promising to protect Israel's land and expand their borders while they're away worshiping Him at the required festivals.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Exodus, God is renewing His covenant with the Israelites on Mount Sinai after they had broken the original tablets, providing laws for their worship and daily life as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. He promises to drive out the surrounding nations and expand their borders, ensuring that no one would covet or attack their territory. This reassurance was given so the Israelites could safely travel to Jerusalem three times a year for major festivals like Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles, without fear of losing their land.
