📚 Historical Context

In the Book of Esther, set in the Persian Empire during the reign of King Ahasuerus, the Jewish people face a deadly plot by Haman, a high official, to annihilate them through a royal decree. Mordecai, Esther's cousin and guardian, sends a message urging her to act, reminding her that her status as queen does not shield her from the danger threatening all Jews. This moment highlights the vulnerability of the Jewish exiles in a foreign land and the need for courage in the face of persecution.
