This takes place during the dedication ceremony of Jerusalem's rebuilt walls around 445 BC. Nehemiah had successfully led the Jewish people in rebuilding the city walls after their return from Babylonian exile. The Dung Gate was one of the actual gates in Jerusalem's wall, located on the southern side of the city.
