This takes place during the reign of King Jehoiakim of Judah, around 605 BC. Jeremiah had dictated God's warnings to his scribe Baruch, who then read them publicly at the temple. Micaiah, who heard Baruch's reading, now reports the contents to government officials, setting in motion a chain of events that would eventually bring the scroll to the king himself.
