This prophecy was given around 735 BC when King Ahaz of Judah was terrified because Israel (Ephraim) and Syria had formed an alliance against him. Remaliah's son refers to Pekah, the king of Israel at that time. God was reassuring Ahaz that these human kingdoms and their leaders were temporary, but faith in God provides lasting security.
