In the book of Ezekiel, the prophet is in exile in Babylon, and God gives him a vision to illustrate the future restoration of Israel and Judah. Ezekiel is instructed to take two sticks, write the names of the divided kingdoms on them, and join them together as a symbolic act of God's promise to reunite His people. This was performed before the exiles to visually convey hope and divine intervention in their fractured nation.
