Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:
In the book of Deuteronomy, Moses is addressing the Israelites as they prepare to enter the Promised Land after their deliverance from slavery in Egypt, emphasizing the importance of God's law for their national identity and faithfulness. He instructs the leaders to gather all people, including men, women, children, and resident foreigners, during the Feast of Tabernacles to hear the law read aloud, ensuring the community remains united in their covenant with God. This practice was designed to pass down God's commands to future generations and prevent spiritual drift in a new land.
