And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
In the biblical narrative, Hagar was an Egyptian servant of Sarah, Abraham's wife, who had borne Abraham a son named Ishmael years earlier through Sarah's arrangement. After Sarah gave birth to Isaac, jealousy arose, leading Abraham to send Hagar and Ishmael away into the harsh wilderness as instructed by God. There, when they ran out of water and were in desperate need, God heard Ishmael's cries and intervened through an angel to provide comfort and assurance.
