This takes place when the prophet Samuel was sent by God to Jesse's house in Bethlehem to secretly anoint one of his sons as the next king to replace Saul. Samuel had already looked at seven of Jesse's older sons, but God rejected each one, teaching Samuel that 'man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'
