Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
Leave me alone so I can destroy them and completely wipe out their name from the earth. Then I will make you into a nation that is stronger and greater than they are.
God is telling Moses that He wants to destroy the rebellious Israelites and start over by making Moses the father of a new, greater nation instead.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is part of Moses recounting to the Israelites how God was ready to destroy them after they made and worshipped the golden calf while Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments. God was so angry at their idolatry and rebellion that He proposed wiping them out completely and starting fresh with Moses' descendants. Moses had to intercede and plead with God to spare the people.
