Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
So all the magicians, fortune tellers, wise men, and psychics came in, and I told them my whole dream. But none of them could tell me what it actually meant.
Even all the experts couldn't crack the code, sometimes you need divine wisdom, not human knowledge.
📚 Historical Context
In the ancient Babylonian Empire, King Nebuchadnezzar often consulted magicians, astrologers, and other diviners as part of the prevailing culture, which heavily relied on these experts for interpreting dreams and omens to guide decisions. This verse is from Nebuchadnezzar's personal account in Daniel 4, where he describes sharing his troubling dream with them, but they failed to provide any interpretation, highlighting the limitations of human wisdom in a pagan society. This sets up the contrast with Daniel, who would later interpret the dream through God's revelation.
