Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
Then Nebuchadnezzar spoke up and said, 'Praise the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent his angel and rescued his people who trusted him completely. They were willing to disobey my orders and risk their lives rather than worship anyone except their own God.'
Even the king had to admit, their God shows up when his people stay loyal.
📚 Historical Context
In the Babylonian exile during the 6th century BC, King Nebuchadnezzar had built a massive golden image and commanded all people in his empire to worship it upon hearing music. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Jewish exiles who served in the king's court, refused to bow down, citing their loyalty to the God of Israel, which led to them being thrown into a fiery furnace as punishment. Astonishingly, they emerged unharmed, prompting Nebuchadnezzar to acknowledge and praise their God for His deliverance.
