Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
So here's the plan: you and the council need to tell the commander to bring Paul down to you tomorrow, like you want to question him more thoroughly about his case. But before he even gets close, we'll be ready to kill him.
Sometimes the people plotting against you think they're being clever, but God sees every move they're planning.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Acts, Paul is in Jerusalem facing accusations from Jewish leaders who oppose his message about Jesus as the Messiah. A group of more than forty Jews has vowed not to eat or drink until they kill Paul, and they plan to deceive the Roman commander into bringing him to them under the guise of wanting more information. This event occurs amid the religious and political turmoil of first-century Judea under Roman occupation, where early Christians like Paul often faced violent opposition from zealots.
