And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
There won't be any darkness there at all, no need for candles, lamps, or even sunlight, because God himself will be their light. And they'll reign as kings and queens forever and ever.
In God's kingdom, darkness doesn't exist and you get to rule alongside him for eternity.
📚 Historical Context
This verse is from the Book of Revelation, written by the Apostle John during his exile on the island of Patmos around 95 AD, as a prophetic vision of the end times. It depicts the New Jerusalem in the eternal state, where God's presence eliminates the need for any external light sources, symbolizing the complete fulfillment of God's promises to His people. In the broader biblical narrative, this reflects the Old Testament themes of God's light guiding Israel, now realized in the final triumph of His kingdom.
