And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
I watched as everyone who had died, doesn't matter if they were nobody special or super important, stood in front of God. Then these books got opened up, including this one called the book of life. Everyone was judged based on what was written about the things they'd done while they were alive.
In the end, we all stand before God and our actions tell the whole story.
📚 Historical Context
The Book of Revelation was written by the Apostle John around AD 95 during his exile on the island of Patmos, amid severe persecution of Christians under the Roman Empire. This verse forms part of a prophetic vision describing the final judgment, where all people, from the least to the greatest, are raised to stand before God and be evaluated based on their deeds as recorded in heavenly books. It reflects the early Christian assurance of divine justice in a world of oppression and injustice.
