To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.
Give a larger inheritance to the larger tribes and a smaller inheritance to the smaller tribes. Each group should receive their inheritance based on how many people were counted in their tribe.
God is instructing that the Promised Land should be divided fairly based on the size of each tribe - bigger tribes get more land, smaller tribes get less.
📚 Historical Context
This verse comes from the second census of Israel in the wilderness, about 40 years after leaving Egypt. Moses was preparing to divide the Promised Land among the twelve tribes of Israel. The land distribution was to be proportional to each tribe's population size, ensuring fair allocation of territory.
