All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred. They shall go hindmost with their standards.
All the people counted in Dan's camp totaled 157,600. They will march at the very back of the group, carrying their flags.
This verse records that Dan's camp had the largest number of people (157,600) and would travel at the rear of Israel's formation.
📚 Historical Context
This comes from the detailed census Moses took of Israel's twelve tribes while they camped at Mount Sinai, about a year after leaving Egypt. God gave specific instructions for how the tribes should arrange their camps around the tabernacle and in what order they should march through the wilderness. Dan's camp, which included the tribes of Dan, Asher, and Naphtali, formed the rear guard of this massive traveling community of over 600,000 men plus their families.
