And the LORD spake unto Aaron, Thou shalt have no inheritance in their land, neither shalt thou have any part among them: I am thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel.
And the LORD said to Aaron, 'You will not receive any land inheritance like the other tribes, and you won't have a portion of territory among them. I am your portion and your inheritance among the people of Israel.'
God is telling Aaron that instead of receiving land like the other tribes, God Himself would be the source of provision and inheritance for the priests.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Numbers, God was establishing the roles and responsibilities of the Israelite tribes as they prepared to settle in the Promised Land after their exodus from Egypt. The tribe of Levi, including Aaron the high priest, was designated for sacred duties in the tabernacle and was not allocated land like the other tribes, to emphasize their full devotion to God. Instead, God assured them that He would provide for their needs through the offerings and tithes of the people, making their inheritance spiritual rather than material.
