📚 Historical Context
In the book of Numbers, the Israelites were journeying through the wilderness after their deliverance from Egypt, with Moses serving as God's chosen leader. Miriam and Aaron, Moses' sister and brother, challenged his authority by criticizing his marriage to a Cushite woman and questioning his unique role as a prophet. As a result, God summoned them to the tabernacle, defended Moses, and immediately afflicted Miriam with leprosy as a direct consequence of her rebellion against divine order.
