So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.
So we built the wall, and the entire wall was connected together up to half its intended height, because the people were determined to work.
The writer is showing how when people are truly committed and motivated, they can accomplish great things together.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Nehemiah, the Jewish people had returned from exile in Babylon and were working to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, which had been destroyed during the Babylonian conquest. This rebuilding effort was led by Nehemiah, a faithful leader who inspired the people to press on despite threats and mockery from neighboring enemies like Sanballat and Tobiah. By Nehemiah 4:6, the workers had managed to complete half the wall because of their shared determination and focus on the task.
