📚 Historical Context
In the time of Moses, as the Israelites wandered in the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt, God established a series of sacred festivals to guide their worship and maintain their covenant relationship with Him. The Day of Atonement, observed on the tenth day of the seventh month, was a solemn occasion where the people fasted, confessed their sins, and offered sacrifices to atone for the nation's impurities and restore spiritual purity. This ritual highlighted God's holiness and the people's need for forgiveness in their daily lives under the Mosaic Law.
