Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house:
Then the priest shall order that the house be emptied before he goes in to examine the contamination, so that everything in the house won't become unclean. After that, the priest shall go in to inspect the house.
The priest is taking careful steps to prevent contamination from spreading to the household belongings while he examines a house for signs of disease or mold.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Leviticus, God provided the Israelites with laws through Moses to ensure ritual purity and holiness in their community, particularly addressing issues like leprosy or mold that could spread uncleanness. This verse specifically deals with the inspection of a house suspected of having a contaminating plague, requiring the priest to order it emptied first to prevent the spread of impurity to its contents. These regulations were part of a broader system in ancient Israel to maintain separation between the clean and unclean, reflecting God's call for His people to live in holiness during their wilderness journey.
