And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
Then Samson cried out to the LORD, saying, 'O Lord God, please remember me and give me strength just this one time, O God, so that I can get revenge on the Philistines for taking away my sight.'
Samson, now blind and imprisoned, desperately prays to God for strength one final time to take revenge on his enemies who destroyed his eyes.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Judges, Samson was a Nazarite judge chosen by God to deliver Israel from Philistine oppression, but his weaknesses and poor choices led to his capture and blinding by the Philistines after Delilah betrayed him. Brought as a prisoner to a Philistine temple, Samson found himself in a desperate situation, reflecting the consequences of his earlier sins and the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Philistines. This moment highlights God's use of flawed individuals for His purposes in the broader narrative of Israel's history.
