📚 Historical Context
This occurred during Israel's miraculous crossing of the Jordan River into the Promised Land, around 1400 BC. The priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant had stepped into the flooded Jordan River, causing the waters to stop flowing so the entire nation could cross on dry ground. Joshua was following the detailed instructions that Moses had given him before Moses' death about leading the people into their new homeland.
