And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
The remaining families of the Kohathites, who were Levites, received their assigned cities from the territory of the tribe of Ephraim.
This verse shows God providing homes for the remaining Levite families by giving them cities from Ephraim's territory.
📚 Historical Context
The Levites were the priestly tribe of Israel who didn't receive a large territorial inheritance like the other tribes, but instead were given specific cities scattered throughout Israel where they could live and serve. The Kohathites were one of the three main Levite clans, and this verse describes how some of them (beyond those already mentioned who served at the tabernacle) received cities from Ephraim's land allocation.
