And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
And the LORD said to Joshua, 'Don't be afraid of them, because I have already given you victory over them. Not one of their soldiers will be able to stand against you.'
God is assuring Joshua that he doesn't need to fear his enemies because God has already guaranteed complete victory.
📚 Historical Context
In the Book of Joshua, the Israelites were in the midst of conquering the Promised Land under Joshua's leadership after Moses' death, as part of God's fulfillment of His covenant. Specifically, in Joshua 10, five Amorite kings had formed an alliance to attack the Gibeonites, who were allies of Israel, forcing Joshua to respond in battle. God spoke these words to Joshua as a direct assurance of victory to strengthen his resolve.
