In ancient Middle Eastern culture, it was considered a sacred duty to comfort those who were mourning, and friends would often travel great distances to be present during times of loss. The names and places mentioned suggest these were real people from different regions who knew Job well enough to coordinate their visit. This shows that Job was a well-respected man with friendships that extended across tribal and geographical boundaries.
