And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.
The prophets will become like empty wind, and God's word is not in them. What they predict will happen to them instead.
God is warning that false prophets who speak empty words without His truth will face the very judgments they dismiss.
📚 Historical Context
During the time of the prophet Jeremiah, around the 7th century BC, the nation of Judah was facing moral and spiritual decline due to widespread idolatry and injustice. False prophets were assuring the people that no judgment would come, directly contradicting Jeremiah's warnings of impending disaster from God. In Jeremiah 5:13, God declares that these false prophets' words are empty and ineffective, like wind, because they lack His true message, and they will face judgment themselves.
