Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
Then the LORD spoke to Jeremiah after the king had burned the scroll that contained the words Baruch had written down as Jeremiah dictated them.
This verse shows that God continued to speak to Jeremiah even after the king destroyed the scroll containing God's messages.
📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Jehoiakim in ancient Judah, the prophet Jeremiah was delivering God's warnings about impending judgment on the nation for their unfaithfulness. Jeremiah had dictated his prophecies to his scribe Baruch, who wrote them on a scroll, but the king burned it in an act of defiance against God's message. This event highlights God's persistence in communicating His word, as He then instructed Jeremiah to rewrite the prophecies.
