For as a young man marrieth a virgin, so shall thy sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoiceth over the bride, so shall thy God rejoice over thee.
Just as a young man marries a virgin, so your sons will marry you. And just as a groom celebrates with joy over his bride, so your God will celebrate with joy over you.
God is saying that He will rejoice over His people with the same passionate joy and celebration that a groom feels for his bride on their wedding day.
📚 Historical Context
Isaiah wrote this during a time when Jerusalem had been destroyed and the Jewish people were in exile in Babylon. The prophet was giving them hope about their future restoration to their homeland.
