I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
I will command the north, 'Let them go!' and tell the south, 'Don't hold them back!' Bring my sons from distant places and my daughters from the farthest corners of the earth.
God is declaring that He will gather His scattered people from every direction on earth, commanding all regions to release them and let them return home.
📚 Historical Context
In the book of Isaiah, the prophet is addressing the nation of Israel during a time of exile and dispersion, particularly under the Babylonian captivity in the 6th century BC. God is promising to regather His people from all directions, symbolizing a restoration of the covenant relationship and their return to the Promised Land. This reflects God's faithfulness to His promises despite Israel's unfaithfulness and rebellion.
