Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
Look, the time is coming when everything in your palace, and all the treasures your ancestors have stored up until now, will be taken away to Babylon. Nothing will be left behind, says the LORD.
God is warning that all of Judah's wealth and treasures will one day be carried off to Babylon as punishment.
📚 Historical Context
During the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah, he had proudly displayed his palace treasures to envoys from Babylon, an act that demonstrated a lack of wisdom in the face of potential threats. Isaiah the prophet then delivered this warning from God, foretelling that these treasures would be carried away to Babylon as part of a future judgment, which ultimately pointed to the coming Babylonian exile. This prophecy served as a reminder of God's sovereignty over nations and the consequences of human pride.
