And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
The land of Judah will become a source of fear for Egypt. Anyone in Egypt who even mentions Judah will be filled with dread, because of the plan that the LORD of armies has decided to carry out against Egypt.
This verse is saying that Egypt will become terrified of tiny Judah because God has a judgment plan against Egypt that will come through His people.
📚 Historical Context
This prophecy was given during a time when Egypt was a major world power and Judah was a small, seemingly insignificant nation. Historically, nations like Judah would seek alliances with Egypt for protection against larger empires like Assyria or Babylon. The idea that mighty Egypt would fear little Judah would have seemed impossible to people of that time.
