Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the LORD their God had sent him, and the people did fear before the LORD.
So Zerubbabel (Shealtiel's son) and Joshua the high priest (Josedech's son), along with everyone else who was left, actually listened to God's voice and to what Haggai the prophet was telling them, because they knew God had sent him. And the people had this deep respect and awe for God.
When God speaks through his messengers, the right response is to listen up and take him seriously.
📚 Historical Context

The prophet Haggai was sent to deliver God's message, calling for immediate action and repentance from their neglect. In this verse, key leaders like Zerubbabel and Joshua, along with the remnant of the people, responded by obeying the prophet's words and showing reverence to the Lord.
