And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.
All the men in Abraham's household were circumcised along with him - both those who were born as part of his family and those who were servants he had purchased from foreigners.
This verse shows that Abraham immediately included everyone in his household - family and servants alike - in God's covenant through circumcision.
📚 Historical Context
This occurred when Abraham was 99 years old, right after God established circumcision as the sign of His covenant with Abraham and his descendants. In ancient Near Eastern culture, a household head's decisions affected everyone under his authority, including servants and slaves. Abraham's immediate obedience demonstrated his faith and ensured that his entire household participated in God's covenant promise.
