He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
So think about it, the one who gives you the Spirit and does incredible things in your life, does he do that because you followed all the rules perfectly, or because you actually believed what you heard?
God's power in your life comes from faith, not from checking off a perfect behavior list.
📚 Historical Context
In the first century, the Apostle Paul wrote his letter to the Galatians to confront false teachers who were pressuring Gentile Christians to adopt Jewish laws, like circumcision, as necessary for salvation. Paul uses this verse to rhetorically challenge the Galatians, asking if the Holy Spirit's gifts and miracles came through strict observance of the law or through simply hearing and believing the message of faith in Christ. This reflects the early church's tensions between Jewish traditions and the freedom of the gospel.
