And it was according to the appearance of the vision which I saw, even according to the vision that I saw when I came to destroy the city: and the visions were like the vision that I saw by the river Chebar; and I fell upon my face.
This vision looked exactly like the one I saw before, the same one I had when I came to announce the city's destruction, and just like that incredible vision I saw by the Chebar River. I was so overwhelmed that I just collapsed face-first to the ground.
Some encounters with God are so intense that all you can do is hit the floor.
📚 Historical Context
Ezekiel was a prophet and priest among the exiled Israelites in Babylon, where he received vivid visions from God about judgment and future restoration. In this verse, he describes a vision of God's glory returning to the temple, which echoes his earlier experiences, like the one by the river Chebar, emphasizing the consistency of divine revelations during Israel's captivity. This occurred around the 6th century BC, reflecting God's ongoing communication amid national hardship.
